The Heschel Gallery is a Heschel Hive column that appears at the end of every rotation throughout the year. It features students’ artwork with an explanation of the project by Morah Lisa for context. This is a wonderful way to appreciate the diversity and beauty of the students’ creations!
Our Grade 7 cohort recently created beautiful triangle projects! To bring these projects to life, students studied the works of Wassily Kandinsky, analyzing how he used form—line, shape, and colour—to convey meaning.
Students brainstormed around different themes in Kandinsky’s work, paying special attention to how Kandinsky used colour and geometric elements to express deep meaning.
Then, students planned and sketched their original artworks around a theme of their choice.
Each student included different geometric forms, which they have also been studying in math class.
Throughout the process, they reflected on how their chosen forms and colours express intended meaning.
