Yesterday, the Heschel community took part in our annual Mitzvah Day, and what a meaningful day it was! Students, parents and staff can be seen here knitting and corking hats for the homeless; weaving mats for the homeless out of non-biodegradable plastic bags; planting and decorating flower pots (which were delivered to residents of a nearby retirement home); creating thank you cards for first responders; and preparing our garden for spring. Thank you to the Heschel choir for a beautiful and moving performance at Kensington Place. And thank you to the Mitzvah Co-Chairs, volunteers and Heschel community for carrying out such an impactful day. Rabbi Heschel taught us the importance of praying with our legs and feet, taking Jewish values and putting them into action, and that’s what Mitzvah Day was all about!
