Dear Heschel Community,

Last week, we all wondered if perhaps we might, just might, have a chance to return to in-person learning for a few weeks before the end of the school year. Sadly, we recently learned that this will not be possible.

As I read this week’s parshahParshat ShelachI am reminded of how we found ourselves in a similar place last year. Once again, we are separated from each other, yearning to be together.

Last year, at this time, Gidi Hagamal and I wrote a Dvar Torah and song to express how we were feeling. We want to share it with you again. Even though this year is תשפ”א, many of the feelings of last yearתש”ף are still with us! But like Kalev and Yehoshua Bin Nun of this week’s parshah, we remain hopeful and look forward to seeing each other again, in person, very soon.

Please click the image above to hear our Dvar and song. Unlike last year when we read Parshat Shelach (a little later in June), we still have a few more weeks togethereven if they are virtual.

Shabbat Shalom,

Moreh Greg
