In April, Leigh, a member of the sports committee, had a great idea. She suggested that Heschel’s Junior High (JH) should go to a Blue Jays game together. The Sports Committee discussed this idea in the following meeting and our plan was then put into action.

On June 5th, JH students gathered in the MPA for a pizza dinner before heading to the game together. We had a fun subway ride downtown. Everyone was very excited when we saw the CN Tower and arrived at the stadium. We got to our seats, which were in the 500 level and behind home plate. By the time we got to our seats, the Jays were already losing. Even though the Houston Astros were up 6-0, we kept cheering for the Jays and our spirit paid off when in the bottom of the 2nd inning Alejandro Kirk hit a homerun and made the score 6-1. We kept on cheering and cheering with our homemade signs. Near the middle of the game, the Sports Committee had a fun surprise for everyone – popcorn! Unfortunately, the Astros won the game, but this was an incredible experience that everyone will remember for years to come, and will hopefully become a school tradition!
