On January 25, 2020, we had our annual Havdalah on Ice at the Scotia Bank Pond in Downsview Park. Havdalah is a Jewish ceremony marking the end of Shabbat. The prayers and rituals are done once it gets dark outside every Saturday night. At the event, the school community waited until dark and then celebrated the weekly ritual while on the ice rink. From those who have never skated before, to our expert skaters, everyone enjoyed skating and eating the delicious snacks that were provided by the volunteers. Teachers, students, alumni and parents all had so much fun! This year we had a great turn out and it is through these types of events that we strengthen our community. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this event, it was a really meaningful night for all.
