Open Houses and virtual events are a wonderful way to learn about Heschel’s unique educational philosophy and to see the ways in which it permeates every aspect of the school, from curriculum and teaching methods, to the design of classrooms and timetables, to community-building.
Almost as good as having been there!
Jews around the world have been mourning the loss of Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks zt”l since November 2020. Rabbi Sacks zt”l left us many teachings to contemplate, including the importance of Jewish education. On March 11, 2021, The Toronto Heschel School hosted a panel discussion on Rabbi Sacks’s ideas about why Jewish learning is so relevant today.
Our distinguished panelists included Dr. Daniel Held, Executive Director, Julia and Henry Koschitzky Centre for Jewish Education, UJA Federation of Greater Toronto, Rabbi Dr. Benji Levy, Founding Partner, Israel Impact Partners; past CEO of Mosaic United, Rabbi Or N. Rose, Director, Miller Center for Interreligious Learning & Leadership, Hebrew College, Massachusetts, Rabbi Yael Splansky, Senior Rabbi, Holy Blossom Temple, and Dr. Rachael Turkienicz, Founder and Director, Rachael’s Centre for Torah, Mussar & Ethics.
