Our Grade 5 artists have been studying the force of human innovation. This includes how ancient Mesopotamian innovations in agriculture, architecture, time, and language have helped shape civilization as we know it.
In the art room, students focused on innovations in language—specifically, how the modern Hebrew script we use today originated as Egyptian hieroglyphs!
Students selected an ancient letter and created posters reflecting its evolution. To do so, they used a pastel-watercolour resist technique: oil pastels resist watercolour paint applied overtop, which creates a vibrant image.
