On January, 26 2019, we had our annual Havdalah on Ice at the Scotia Bank Pond in Downsview Park. At the event, the school community took part in celebrating a weekly ritual. Havdalah is a weekly ceremony marking the end of  Shabbat. The prayers are said once it gets dark outside on Saturday night.

Everyone had a great time skating with their friends, drinking hot chocolate and eating popcorn chips.

It is so lovely to see all of our Heschel community together and specifically watching the younger students skate alongside Junior High.

This year we had a great turn out and it is through these types of events that we strengthen our community.

A special thanks to the Sol family for leading the service and giving out spices.

We can’t wait to continue this annual event in years to come!
