Our graduates are prepared to learn and succeed at the high school of
their choice. They are able to understand subject material and are
able to solve both academic and authentic problems with confidence.
They can cross-reference information and make links between subjects.
They also have a strong understanding of Jewish ethical values and how
they apply to real-life situations. Our students are inquisitive,
imaginative and creative and have developed the skills for independent
learning that are necessary in high school, university and beyond.
Heschel is a very unique school and I am proud to be a Heschel
graduate. Heschel has taught me many core values in life, for example,
how to treat others in the community, how to take initiative and be a
leader, how to treat everyone equally no matter what race, culture,
religion or background they come from and how to respect and take care
of the environment. At the Grade 9 CHAT orientation, Heschel was
complimented on the fact that we take very good care of the
environment and that no other school but Heschel composts. At that
moment I felt especially proud.Samara Bernstein-Hendry ('06)
I graduated from the Toronto Heschel School in 2004. Last week I
graduated from CHAT… Next year I will be attending Parsons the New
School for Design in New York City to pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts
degree in Photography…I used my skills that I learned here at the
Toronto Heschel School to write artist’s statements for each of the
images in my portfolio. Boy did I have a leg up on everyone else!
Self-reflection is one of the most important skills you will ever
need, no matter what career path you pursue.

The Toronto Heschel School affords its students a place to organically
partake in classroom learning within an arts framework which you can
do no where else. Defying the restrictions circumscribed to elementary
education, Heschel gives its students the chance to grow into people
whose limits are never self imposed, and whose minds will remain a
sharp tool for further learning in various disciplines. As I see it
now, the change in frame of mind from grade 8 to 9 proved successful
because I had developed strength and creativity at Heschel, two
ingredients necessary for successful change.
