Visual arts, music, movement and dramatic arts are all used to open more
creative channels of learning and develop abstract thinking and expression.
The arts are used to encourage creativity, increase concentration and foster
positive interaction. The arts are recognized through well-founded research as being integral to the transmission of culture and academic knowledge.
"Multi-sensory" means that our teachers observe the way each child encounters the world and develop lessons based on the needs of the children in their group. The Toronto Heschel School's educational programme uses Howard Gardner's theory of "Multiple Intelligences", suggesting that individuals perceive the world in at least nine different and equally important ways, and that educational programmes should foster the development of all these forms of thinking. |
