Graduation and Beyond

ImageOur graduates are prepared to learn and succeed at the high school of their choice. They are able to understand subject material and are able to solve both academic and authentic problems with confidence.

They can cross-reference information and make links between subjects. They also have a strong understanding of Jewish ethical values and how they apply to real-life situations. Our students are inquisitive, imaginative and creative and have developed the skills for independent learning that are necessary in high school, university and beyond.

It’s All in The Numbers

  • Grades 3 & 6 participated in standardized literacy tests and over 95% met and/or exceeded ministry standards.

  • The grade 7 and 8 students participated in the Pythagoram math contest sponsored by the University of Waterloo.  The grade 7 students ranked 13th out of 382 schools and the grade 8 students ranked 31st out of 346 schools across Canada.  Our students consistently place in the upper 8th percentile of the contest.

  • Of a 1700 student population at Northern Secondary School, 2 Heschel alumni have received "Outstanding Scholastic Achievement Awards" and one received the "Subject Achievement Certificate".

  • Over the past two years, 80% of Heschel graduates made the Ontario Scholar Honour Roll at CHAT (over 80% average), with 2 students achieving over 90%.

  • Our grade 7 students conceptualized and carried out a teddy bear drive throughout the entire school benefitting the residents of Aleh, a residential programme for children living with physical and cognitive disabilities in Israel. The students sent over 800 stuffed toys to Israel.

  • My son was awarded a Grade 9 Academic Achievement Award in Math.  I know some Heschel parents are always interested in how Heschel prepares students for High School.  Chalk one up for Heschel!
