Governance

Gesher Abraham. This is the corporate entity that encompasses all of our activities. It has two divisions, The Toronto Heschel School and the Lola Stein Institute for Leadership in Education.

The
Toronto Heschel School. This is the educational centre for student learning that runs a Jewish Day School from Grades JK through 8.

The Lola Stein Institute for Leadership in Education. The Lola Stein Institute concentrates on the content and delivery of the best in education. It is a centre for curriculum development and publication and teacher training offering its services to The Toronto Heschel School and the broader education community.

The Toronto Heschel School operates as part of a federally incorporated not-for-profit organization called Gesher Abraham. As such, it is permitted to issue receipts for tax deductible charitable donations under Canadian law. Tax receipts are issued for the amount of tuition paid that is calculated to be towards the non-secular portion of education at The Toronto Heschel School. For recent years, the amount of the donation receipt for a full tuition payment has been approximately 70% of tuition paid. The after tax cost of tuition for most families was therefore approximately 68% of tuition paid.
